The following is from John Mackie, John William 37VT68, Oct 6 2016, 4pm.
Storms moving in with heavy rain right now.
Beefed up the dock, buried 2 20 lb anchors in yard. Put out 40 lb Danforth 200 feet off bow and 20 lb one off the stern plus a bow line to neighbors oak tree. House is secured and hopefully ready. Biggest worry is water levels being higher than normal and the surge. Hopefully we are high enough but water is rising with wind. It came up 6" in last hour. Will keep you posted if we have cell service.
[Update 7 October 2016 at 0900]
Storm has passed but winds still up in 60's. no power, house is fine but lost our small oak out front.
Boat is doing fine with no visible damage so far. Had to adjust a couple of lines when wind switched but everything held great. Small danforth is carrying the load as the wind is blowing out the canal now taking the water with it. No storm surge to report but I am sure lots of erosion on the beach.
